• Like coming home

  It felt like coming home, when I joined APELL in September 2024. After having worked on civil rights, consumer protection, and digital regulation in the European Parliament for close to nine years, starting to represent Open Source businesses in Brussels was not that big of a change for me: because even when policy and regulation did not on the surface impact the FLOSS (Free/Libre Open Source Software) ecosystem, there were parts in many dossiers I worked on that subtly could have been to the detriment of an ecosystem of communities.

• Policy analysis time: the Public Procurement Regulation leak

  Policy analysis time: I have finally taken the time to look into the Public Procurement Regulation proposal that leaked/floated around earlier in July, and while I concur with Diego Naranjo’s first assessment that there is no direct mention to #OpenSource, #PublicMoneyPublicCode in there, I don’t necessarily think there needs to be a direct, concrete reference to these terms.
